It's the end of summer, it's back to school and it's almost fall. You know what that means: goodbye drinks on the beach and hello netflix and chill nights in bed.
Because we know how boring it is to spend hours choosing what to watch, we have prepared a selection of 5 series and 5 movies that highlight the LGBT community on the VOD platform Netflix.
All you have to do is sit back and watch!

Our favorite shows :
Sense 8 :
8 very different people all over the world find themselves connected by strange visions. More connected than ever, they are now able to see each other, talk to each other, feel and experience everything as if they were together. While waiting to understand what is happening to them, they must learn to live with it.
In addition to being an engaging series, Sense8 lifts the veil on cultural and sexual inequalities and differences by featuring people from different backgrounds, cultures and sexualities, everything is confused, everything is brought together and everything is normal in the end.
Elite :
The famous Spanish series turns heads. If at the beginning the synopsis tells us the investigation of a murder in which the students of a prestigious private high school are involved, the stories of hearts quickly take over. If the first seasons are quite soft, we can discover the birth of the impossible love between a young boy from a privileged background and a Muslim man who will have to face their families and friends. It is from the fourth season that the series focuses on the LGBT community by featuring characters who explore their sexuality.
Heartstopper :
Two college students, one shy and harassed by his classmates, the other popular and perceived as heterosexual, find themselves bound by a common passion: rugby. The two friends will become friends, which will slowly turn into a love relationship.
A nice series based on a comic book of the same name that shows the difficulty of coming out when you're young and the importance of your entourage. Here Netflix decides to show the story from the right point of view and to focus on the positive by not dwelling on the clichés and the suffering brought by homophobes.
Queer Force :
A gay secret agent trying to prove himself is constantly underestimated. He and his troop of LGBTQ+ superheroes go to great lengths to prove to the world that their sexual orientation has no impact on their strength and effectiveness.
Accused of only highlighting gays and lesbians, we think it's a very feel good adult animation series that highlights a part of the LGBT community but tends to become surprising and even more inclusive.
Young Royals :
Wilhelm, prince of Sweden, is sent to a prestigious boarding school reserved for the elite to silence the scandals in which he is involved. He then meets Simon, one of his classmates with whom he will form a relationship. An awkward love, full of realism, this very touching series is far from the trashy and sexualized teenage stories that we are used to see.
At a time of doubts and family obligations imposed by the crown, we witness the sometimes painful daily life of a young man in love, unsure of himself who must make choices.
Our favorite LGBT movies :
Call me By Your Name :
In the summer of 1983, in a villa in Italy, Elio, a young man of 17, is enjoying his summer of music, culture and flirtation when he crosses paths with Olivier, an American student who is preparing his doctoral thesis with Elio's father. Elio is about to discover his most unexpected desires.
The film is not categorized as gay by its director, who prefers to show the birth, the power and the beauty of the desire that can be experienced by people who go far beyond the age and sex of the opposite person.
Prom :
A musical masterpiece by Ryan Murphy. Far from his usual universe, the director offers us this time a musical adapted from Broadway extremely feel-good where in 2010, a young high school girl is refused entry to her prom after having invited her girlfriend.
Then two damned stars of the New York scene come to her aid to restore their careers but also and above all to convey an essential message and put an end to homophobia.
Anne + :
Anne is a 20 year old lesbian living in the Netherlands in order to finish her book before joining her girlfriend in Montreal. Her encounter with a non-binary Drag artist will turn Anne's tidy little life upside down as she re-examines her perceptions of her past relationships and the impact that the different girls in her past have had on them.
A film in the continuity of the eponymous Dutch short film, screaming of sincerity. The actress and co-director herself Queer brings a raw fragility and a story shaking with truth.
Ride or Die :
Rei helps her friend, a woman she has loved for many years, to escape from her husband's beatings. However, during their escape, the confrontation of feelings and emotions that will mix will bring a new dimension to the journey and to their relationship. This film highlights the feelings of the two women, sometimes different and sometimes not so much.
Your Name Engraved Herein :
Back in 1987 in Taiwan, at the end of Martial Law, Jia-Han and Birdy, two high school students became friends. Inspired by the brotherhood and love that emanates from the city's atmosphere, one falls in love with the other, who denies his feelings by confessing to loving a girl.
It is only much later, when they meet again that things change.
This story shows the strength of love in an environment where social stigma, homophobia and family and friend pressure are omnipresent for homosexuals.
Great, now all we need is a Netflix account 😭
